On one of the few days where the weather was passable for grilling, we had some Wurst and beer. While the Matthias did the grilling, I watched the girls play.
“What grass? I’m not eating grass….. I don’t see anything hanging out of my mouth.”
“OK, I was TOTALLY eating grass! LOL!”
Not quite there but getting a helping hand.

All of the hard work was totally worth it. Hoepkerwurst are the BEST sausages ever.
While sitting and digesting all of the goodness, Opa took over baby-sitting duty, and I could relax and actually finish my drink. Then it got to cold, and we all went back inside – sigh. Really ready for some sun.

I’m intrigued by that Wurst. What did you like about it? Is that a variety available here in der Oberpfalz? Is it something we could actually make ourselves? Sarah and I are going to the Donaumarkt this morning to scope out some vegetables and fruit, but also meat for sausage-making. Google searches for Hoepkerwurst aren’t revealing much (this page has the number one hit spot, by the way).
I don’t know anything about the sausages. I think they are local, and they are excellent for Curry Wurst. There is a kiosk next to the bus station that uses them, and it is the best in town. We get them from a local butcher. I can ask Matthias if he knows more. We weren’t clever enough to bring a cooler this time, but next time, we’ll bring you a few back for analysis.
